NDIS Price Guide 2026-27: Price Limits for the Supports People Actually Use

The NDIS Pricing Arrangements set the maximum a provider can charge for each support. This guide pulls out the limits that matter to most participants - support workers, support coordination, plan management and therapy - and explains how they apply to your plan.

What the NDIS price guide is

Every year the National Disability Insurance Agency publishes the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which most people still call the price guide. It lists every support the scheme funds, its item number, and the maximum a provider can charge for it. The current document took effect on 1 July 2026.

The limits matter because your plan is a fixed amount of money. A support that costs $100 an hour buys you fewer hours than one that costs $80. Knowing the limits lets you check invoices, compare providers and work out how far your budget goes.

When the price limits apply to you

  • Agency-managed (NDIA-managed): providers must be registered and cannot charge above the limit.
  • Plan-managed: you can use registered or unregistered providers, but neither can charge above the limit. Your plan manager checks this for you.
  • Self-managed: the limits are a guide only. You can agree any price, but every dollar above the limit comes out of the same fixed budget.

Providers are free to charge less than the limit, and some do. The limit is a ceiling, not a recommended price.

Support workers: assistance with daily life

This is the biggest line in most plans. The limits come from the NDIA's Disability Support Worker Cost Model and vary by time of day and day of the week.

Assistance with self-care activities (standard)Price limit per hour (2026-27)
Weekday daytime$73.58
Weekday evening$81.07
Weekday night$82.57
Saturday$103.54
Sunday$133.50
Public holiday$163.46
Night-time sleepover (per shift)$311.79

Sunday costs 81% more than a weekday and a public holiday more than double, which is why the shape of a roster matters as much as the number of hours. "High intensity" supports, for participants who need workers with additional training, run higher again: $79.60 weekday daytime and $144.42 on Sundays. Our guide to NDIS support workers covers what they do, hiring options and how loadings affect a weekly budget.

Support coordination

LevelItemPrice limit per hour (2026-27)
Level 1 - Support Connection07_001_0106_8_3$80.06
Level 2 - Coordination of Supports07_002_0106_8_3$100.14
Level 3 - Specialist Support Coordination07_004_0106_8_3$190.54

These limits were frozen again for 2026-27, the fourth consecutive year without an increase, which is why some coordinators have reduced availability or moved to remote delivery. Support coordination is funded from its own Capacity Building line in your plan, so it does not compete with your core supports. See what support coordination is and the support coordination provider directory.

Plan management

ItemPrice limit
Plan management - monthly fee (14_034_0127_8_3)$104.45 per month
Plan management - set-up feeNo longer claimable (removed in 2025-26)

The monthly fee is paid from a dedicated "Improved Life Choices" budget that the NDIA adds to your plan when you choose plan management, so it costs you nothing from your other supports. Plan manager vs support coordinator vs LAC explains who does what.

Therapy and allied health

From 1 July 2026 therapy pricing was restructured into separate line items per profession, replacing the old single "therapy" rate for most disciplines.

ProfessionPrice limit per hour (2026-27)Change from 2025-26
Psychology$252.99Up from $232.99
Behaviour support (specialist behavioural intervention)$252.99Up
Occupational therapy$193.99Unchanged
Speech pathology$193.99Unchanged
Physiotherapy$183.99Unchanged (cut from $193.99 in 2025-26)
Podiatry$188.99Unchanged
Dietetics$178.99Down from $188.99
Exercise physiology$161.99Down from $166.99
Other professional$156.16Down from $193.99

The "other professional" cut is the one to watch: therapists who do not fit a named profession (some counsellors, art and music therapists, developmental educators in some cases) moved from $193.99 to $156.16, and several have changed how they bill or which item they claim. If a therapy invoice looks different from last year, this is usually why. Browse therapeutic supports providers and behaviour support providers in the directory.

Provider travel

Therapists and support workers can claim travel time to reach you, within limits: up to 30 minutes each way in metropolitan areas and 60 minutes in regional areas, and only between participants, not from home to the first visit. For therapy supports, travel time is capped at 50% of the hourly price limit since 1 July 2025. Non-labour costs such as kilometres are claimed separately at set rates. Travel must be agreed in your service agreement before it can be charged.

Cancellations

A provider can charge 100% of the agreed fee for a short notice cancellation, and there are two different notice periods. For disability support worker supports it is less than 7 days notice. For everything else, therapy included, it is less than 2 clear business days - a much shorter window than most people assume, and the one providers most often quote wrongly. Either way it has to be in your service agreement, and a provider claiming cancellation fees repeatedly for the same participant is expected to discuss the pattern with you rather than keep billing. Check whether a provider's cancellation policy is tighter than the NDIS rules before signing.

Reading the price guide yourself

The full document runs to well over a hundred pages, but you only need a few of them. Search it for the item number on your invoice; the limit, the unit (hour, each, day) and any conditions are on the same line. The NDIA also publishes a support catalogue spreadsheet that is easier to filter. If an invoice is above the limit and you are plan- or agency-managed, the provider must reduce it.

Scheme context

As at 31 March 2026 the NDIS had 774,456 active participants, and scheme expenses for the first nine months of 2025-26 were about $38 billion, with the full year expected near $48 billion. Price limits are one of the main levers the NDIA uses to manage that growth, which is why several have been frozen or cut in the last two years. Our NDIS changes in 2026 guide covers the other reforms affecting plans.

Price limits on this page are from the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits published by the NDIA and are current as at August 2026. Limits are usually updated each 1 July, and the NDIA can change them mid-year. Always check the current document on ndis.gov.au before relying on a figure. Frequently asked questions

What is the NDIS price guide?
The NDIS price guide is the everyday name for the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, the NDIA document that sets the maximum amount a provider can charge for each type of support. It is updated each 1 July. Providers can charge less than the limit but not more if you are agency-managed or plan-managed.
Do NDIS price limits apply if I self-manage my plan?
No. Self-managed participants can agree any price with a provider, including above the price limit, although paying more than the limit means your funding runs out faster. Agency-managed and plan-managed participants cannot be charged more than the limit.
What is the NDIS hourly rate for a support worker in 2026?
The standard weekday daytime price limit for assistance with self-care activities is $73.58 per hour in the 2026-27 Pricing Arrangements, rising to $81.07 in the evening, $103.54 on Saturdays, $133.50 on Sundays and $163.46 on public holidays. A night-time sleepover is $311.79 per shift.
How much does NDIS support coordination cost per hour?
The 2026-27 price limits are $80.06 per hour for Support Connection (level 1), $100.14 for Coordination of Supports (level 2) and $190.54 for Specialist Support Coordination (level 3). These are unchanged from 2025-26.
What changed in NDIS pricing from 1 July 2026?
Therapy pricing was restructured into separate line items per profession. Psychology and behaviour support rose to $252.99 per hour, occupational therapy, speech pathology and physiotherapy were unchanged, and dietetics, exercise physiology and the general "other professional" rate were reduced. Support coordination and plan management limits were frozen again.
